An easy recipe for Maash ki Daal. Best served with Beef Kofta Curry and Sweet Chutney.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup urid/maash daal

  • 1 tbsp ginger (julienned)

  • 2 dry red chilli (whole)

  • ⅓ tsp salt

  • 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)

  • ¼ cup oil/ghee

  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves

  • 2 cups water

Directions

  • Wash the daal.   
  • In 2 cups of water add the daal and dry red chillies.
  • Boil until the daal is cooked and drain.   
  • Add ginger and salt to the daal.
  • Mix and cook (covered) on very low flame for 5-10 minutes.   
  • Fry the onions in oil until golden.    
  • Pour the fried onions and the oil into the daal.
  • Garnish with fresh chopped mint.
  • Serve with Beef Kofta Curry.
