Like chocolate cake that’s not tooooo chocolaty? Not too sweet? This is a recipe for a light chocolate cake that doesn’t give you an overdose of sweetness.

¾ cup plain flour
2 eggs
2 tbsp cocoa
4 oz (½ cup) butter
½ cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180C (350F).
- Mix flour, cocoa and baking powder in a bowl.
- In a small bowl, beat the eggs. Set aside.
- In a third bowl beat the softened butter and sugar together until creamy.
- Add the eggs and beat well.
- Add the dry ingredients and mix until you get a smooth batter. Do not over beat.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- If making cupcakes, change baking time to 20 minutes.
