Lamb Cutlets with Creamy Mashed Potatoes

In our home we’ll use any excuse to make a special meal 🍽 And what’s more special than lamb!

Today’s recipe is lamb cutlets with a side of creamy mashed potatoes 🥩

Here’s a quick summary of how this dish is prepared:

  • Marinate the lamb cutlets in garlic, onion powder, mustard, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and dried mixed herbs.
  • Prepare the mashed potatoes by mixing boiled potatoes (mashed and sieved), butter, milk/cream and salt.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and sear the lamb cutlets on high heat. Turn down the heat to medium and cook for another 15-20 mins or until done (charred from the outside and fat properly rendered).
  • Serve immediately and enjoy 😊

Ingredients

  • 750gm lamb cutlets (~8)

  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ¾ tsp pepper

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs

  • 2 tsp yellow or Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

Directions

  • Trim the fat off the lamb cutlets.
  • Wash and pat dry with a paper towel.
  • In a ziplock bag add all the ingredients and mix.
  • Place the lamb cutlets in the bag. Seal and shake to evenly coat all the meat. Refrigerate the steaks and let marinate for 30 mins – 1 hour.
  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large frying pan.
  • Using tongs fish the cutlets out of the ziplock bag and place in the hot pan.
  • Sear both sides of the lamb on high heat. Then reduce heat to medium and continue to cook for another 15 minutes (or until done and lightly charred).
  • Take the lamb off the heat and let rest for a few minutes.
  • Serve the lamb with mashed potatoes and green beans.
