Chicken Burgers

My mother-in-law makes these succulent, tender chicken burgers. Simple enough for even a 12-year old could make!

Ingredients

  • ½ kg chicken breast fillets

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ¾ tsp black pepper powder

  • ¾ tsp ground red chilli flakes

  • ½ white pepper powder

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp vinegar

  • ½ tsp ginger & garlic paste

  • 2 tbsp plain flour

  • 2 tbsp cornflour

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • oil for frying

Directions

  • Tenderise the chicken with a metal/wooden meat tenderiser.
  • In a bowl, mix salt, pepper, white pepper, ground chilli, egg, soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic & ginger paste.
  • Add chicken to the mixture and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cornflour and baking soda. You can [optionally] season this mixture as well with a little bit of salt and pepper.
  • Toss the chicken fillets in the flour mix and shallow fry in hot oil.
  • You can garnish these burgers with chilli & garlic sauce, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese slice.
