Ingredients

  • 1 kg boneless fish fillet

  • 5 fenugreek seeds (methi dana)

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (levelled)

  • 5 onions

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • salt to taste

  • ½ tsp red chilli powder

  • 2 tbsp ginger & garlic paste

  • 1½ cup sour yogurt

Directions

  • Steam the onions for 30-40 minutes and grind to a paste.
  • Heat oil and add fenugreek and cumin seeds.
  • When the cumin starts to brown up, add onion paste and fry.
  • Stir fry the onion paste till it turns light brown.
  • Add ginger & garlic paste and remaining spices and mix.
  • Immediately add yogurt and cook on low/medium until the water dries up (and the oil comes up).
  • Add fish and mix.
  • Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes (turn over half way through the cook).
