1 kg boneless fish fillet
5 fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
1 tsp cumin seeds (levelled)
5 onions
½ tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
½ tsp red chilli powder
2 tbsp ginger & garlic paste
1½ cup sour yogurt
Directions
- Steam the onions for 30-40 minutes and grind to a paste.
- Heat oil and add fenugreek and cumin seeds.
- When the cumin starts to brown up, add onion paste and fry.
- Stir fry the onion paste till it turns light brown.
- Add ginger & garlic paste and remaining spices and mix.
- Immediately add yogurt and cook on low/medium until the water dries up (and the oil comes up).
- Add fish and mix.
- Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes (turn over half way through the cook).
