Ingredients

  • ½ kg strawberries (hulled & halved)

  • ¼ cup caster sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp + ⅓ cup flour

  • pinch of salt

  • ¼ cup butter

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ⅛ tsp cinnamon powder

  • ¼ cup flaked almonds

  • ⅓ cup oats

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 180C.
  • To prepare the filling, place the berries in a bowl and add caster sugar, vanilla extract, 2 tbsp flour, and a pinch of salt. Toss to coat evenly.
  • To prepare the topping, mix together ⅓ cup flour, brown sugar, cinnamon powder, and a pinch of salt. Add cold butter and use a fork to even out until the texture starts to look like pea-sized balls. Add the almond flakes and oats and toss to combine. 
  • In a lined baking pan spread the berries evenly. Sprinkle the crumb mixture to coat.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes (until the top is crisp and golden and the mixture is bubbling).
  • Let cool for 15 minutes at room temperature.
  • Serve warm with fresh whipped cream.
